The Conference:
Department of Mathematical Sciences, University of Memphis will be hosting the 16th annual conference of the Forum for Interdisciplinary Mathematics (FIM) titled "International Conference on Interdisciplinary Mathematical & Statistical Techniques" during May 15-18, 2008 (Thursday to Sunday) in the Fogelman College of Business and Economics, The University of Memphis. The conference:
| Date | Time | Activity |
| 15 May 2008 | 19:00 | Dinner Reception [no Academic Events] |
| 16 May 2008 | 08:30 begin | Academic Sessions |
| 17 May 2008 | 08:00 begin | Academic Sessions |
| 18 May 2008 | 08:00 to Lunch | Academic Sessions / Conf. End |
Earlier recent conferences have been held in Australia, China, Portugal, India and various Universities in USA. The academic activities of the conference will primarily focus on the following areas of mathematical and statistical sciences: combinatorics, functional analysis, ergodic theory, partial differential equations, graph theory, number theory, Bayesian statistics, bioinformatics, biostatistics, design and analysis of experiments and multivariate analysis. However, presentations in other areas of mathematical and statistical sciences are also welcome. Several workshops are being planned for the benefit of scholars to bring the knowledge to the cutting edge. A must-attend session is the "Editors Round Table;" designed to help young researchers appreciate the "current trends and techniques" of scholarly publications.
One major aspect of this conference is that it will serve as a vehicle to groom young researchers including both undergraduate/graduate students and recent recipients of PhD degrees. These young researchers will be encouraged to make regular oral presentations and will not be restricted to making only poster presentations.
