Textbook: College Algebra, by Beecher, Penna and Bittinger; third edition; Addison Wesley.

Course Content:

Chapters R, 1, 2, 3, 4, and (if time allows) 5.1, 5.2

Days of exams:

Exam I – January 31

Exam II – February 21

Exam III – March 20

Exam IV- April 10

Final Exam – May 1, 8:00 – 10:00am

Homework: Homework will be assigned on line using the program MyMathLab. There will be nine homework assignments in the following days:

01/17 - due 01/24; 01/22 – due 01/30; 02/05 – due 02/13; 02/12 – due 02/20; 02/26 – due 03/05; 03/11 – due 03/19; 03/25 – due 04/02; 04/01 – due 04/09; 04/15 – 04/23.

Grading: There will be four 100 point exams and nine homework assignments totally worth 100 points. The lowest grade of semester exams or of all homework assignments will be dropped. The final exam will be comprehensive and worth 150 points.

Grade scale: A+, A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, D, F
