Undergraduate Scholarships
for students majoring in
Mathematics or Statistics
for Fall 2008
The Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Memphis
offers the following scholarships for full-time undergraduates majoring in Mathematics
or Statistics (including double or second majors). The scholarships are based upon
demonstrated academic achievement and potential, not financial need. Multiple
recipients for each scholarship may be chosen.
The Kaltenborn Scholarship:
A one-year scholarship, in an amount ranging from $2000 to $3000. Candidates must have:
- completed at least 15 semester-hours within the Mathematical Sciences major
while attending the University of Memphis.
- at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA, with at
least a 3.5 GPA in major courses.
- demonstrated evidence of mathematical maturity through their coursework.
The R. P. & Dorothy Clark Scholarship:
A one-year scholarship of at least $2000, designated for Outstanding Juniors majoring in the
Mathematical Sciences. Candidates must have completed at least 18 semester hours within the Major at the time of application.
To apply for either of the scholarships, candidates should send a letter to the address below, which includes the following information:
- The scholarship(s) being sought.
- The full name and Student ID number of the applicant.
- Contact information, including current and permanent mailing
address, telephone number, and e-mail address (if available) of the applicant.
- The names and addresses of two faculty members who will provide supporting
letters. The letters should be sent directly to the address below.
All information must be received by April 11, 2008 at this address:
