Exams

There will be four one-hour exams. (As stated in the grading policy, the lowest score will be dropped, and your grade will be computed using the best 3 scores you got in the hour-exams.) The dates for the exams, as well as the material that each of them will cover are indicated below. In order to prepare for these exams, you are very strongly encouraged to do all the problems from the corresponding sections of the book, as listed in the Assignment link.


EXAM 1: Monday, September 19.

This exam covers Sections 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 1.6, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4. A review for the exam will be done in lecture on Friday, September 16.


EXAM 2: Monday, October 10.

This exam covers Sections 2.5, 2.6, 2.7, 2.8, 2.9, 3.1, 3.2. A review for the exam will be done in lecture on Friday, October 7.


EXAM 3: Monday, November 7.

This exam covers Sections 3.3, 3.4, 3.5, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3. A review for the exam will be done in lecture on Friday, November 4.


EXAM 4: Wednesday, November 30.

This exam covers Sections 5.4, 5.5, 5.6, 5.7. A review for the exam will be done in lecture on Monday, November 28.


FINAL EXAM: Monday, December 12, 10:30-12:30 pm.

The final exam is cumulative and covers Sections 1.1 through 1.6, 2.1 through 2.9, 3.1 through 3.5, 4.1 through 4.3, 5.1 through 5.7.  Review sessions for the final exam will be done in lecture on December 2, December 5 and December 7.
