The hour-exams will take place during lecture on the following
dates: September 18, October 9, November 6 and November 29, 2006. The final exam is on Monday, December 11,
10:30-12:30 pm, 227 Dunn Hall. There are no make-up hour-exams, and no make-up final
exam!
A practice
final exam has been
added, under Exams. A final project, due on December 11,
2006 in class, is also posted under Exams.
There will be four one hour-exams and a final exam. The link to Exams at
the top of the page contains all the information about the dates and the
material that each exam will cover. Each hour-exam is worth 100 points. The
lowest hour-exam score will be dropped, and only the best three scores of the
hour-exams will be used to compute your final grade. The final exam is
cumulative, and it is worth 200 points. The maximum score you can achieve in
the class is 500 points. Homework is assigned weekly (under the link to
Assignments above), but it will not be collected. However, you are strongly
encouraged to attempt to do all the assigned problems, as they will provide
very good practice for the exams.
The final letter grade will be assigned using the following scale:
95-100%=A,
90-95%=A-, 87-90%=B+, 84-87%=B, 80-84%=B-, 77-80%=C+, 74-77%=C, 70-74%=C-,
67-70%=D+, 60-67%=D, 0-60%=F.
